Rules
- Medium pitch speed (recommended, but not required)
- Over-the-line format; no base runners; exact dimensions provided below
- Baseball hitting count rules (4 balls for a walk; three strikes for an out)
- One, One & Done rule – Once a batter has 1 strike, any pitch that hits the strike zone without a swing attempt is an automatic out
- Starting count may be adjusted by tournament officials based on scheduling requirements
- Strike is any pitch that hits the strike zone target (see dimensions below)
- Hit by pitch counts as a ball
- No intentional diving into ball; umpire has discretion to call it a strike; does not count as “one & done” rule
- Unlimited foul balls, however, fouled third strike that hits the strike zone is an out
- Ten run maximum per inning
- Each pitcher may only pitch one inning per game
- For extra inning games, pitching limits reset after 3 inn.
- Pitchers may not leave and re-enter the game to pitch to another batter
- Extra innings will be relevant for playoffs only; extra innings will start with a runner on third base
- All players bat continuously according to line up established pre-game (even if not a defensive player)
- Five players play in the field (four fielders and one pitcher)
- A min. of 7 team members must be in the line up, teams with more than 7 are allowed to play entire roster
- If you fall below 7 players, it’s an automatic out every time the missing 7th player should hit
- A hit is based on where the ball lands first from its flight in the air, not where it ends up
- All fielders must start behind single line before pitch, except for pitcher who pitches from single line
- If the ball stops rolling in front of the single line before the pitcher picks it up, then it’s a foul ball
- A ground ball which hits off a fielder prior to reaching the singles line and is caught by same player or another player prior to hitting the ground, is an out, regardless of where that player stands
- Dropped grounder or fly ball is an error (dropped meaning the ball hits the ground)
- If an error is made the batter reaches base as if they had hit safely in the zone where the ball lands
- Runners advance by type of hit (i.e. single advances runners one 1 base, triple advance 3 bases)
- Lead runner is always forced out first on a ground ball
- No infield fly rule and no bunting allowed
